ms.pratibha patil,the first women president of india .she was maharashtrian to hold the post of indian national congress party, throughout her long and successful career .the election of the 12th president of india was unique in intensity and dimension.the runup to the election witnessed a close rivalry and much political mudslinging from both sides. ms patil began her political carreer at a relatively tender age of 27.it was her father who got her to join politics following a fiery speech at the akhil bharatiya parishad in year 1960.
ms.pratibha devisingh patil was sworn in by justice k.g. balakrishnan, on25th july 2007,
as the 12th president of republic of india.
